On the southern Texan Gulf Coast edge in Cameron County is the small village of Boca Chica, meaning little mouth. In 2012, it became the home of Elon Musks' ambitious and cherished SpaceX rocket and project factory. SpaceX preferred Boca Chica because of its proximity to the shoreline. It's close to California, near the equator, largely populated and has a well-experienced competent workforce in Texas. The state and local lawmakers provided tax incentives to develop and launch the rocket factory site in Boca Chica.
